Michele Madeksza is an oil painter whose works radiate with color and can be described as impressionistic realism.

As an oil painter, the primary means for me to express myself is through color.   I try to explore the dynamics and complexities in our everyday life through the use of light with dark, fractured and divergent pieces of color.  The closer we examine components of life, the greater the number of facets for consideration.

My goal is to create paintings that are lively and fluid, with drama and strength.  Recently I have been painting with a pallet knife.  I select a delicate subject matter and contrast that sensibility with the use of bold, contrasting colors, applied with a pallet knife of thick paint.  The results are paintings that explore the juxtaposition between strength and weight with delicacy and fragility.   The rich application of very light against very dark colors with a pallet knife achieves drama and strength, bringing the painting to life.  The observer is offered unexpected views and contradictions of everyday scenes and objects.

Her paintings explore a wide range of subjects including still lives, people, buildings, nature/flowers and scenes from daily life. They have been described as lively, fluid, and strong.

Madeksza earned her under graduate degree from the University of Richmond and her graduate degree from The George Washington University. Since moving to Delaware in 1998, she has studied with Edward Loper, Sr., Jon Redmond, John Sevcik and at the Barnes Foundation, in Marion, PA. She sits on the Board of Trustees for the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts and Kentmere Nursing Center.

Michele lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband and daughter.
